Three engine options are available for the Honda 2024 Civic: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 158 horsepower, a 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 180 horsepower (up to 200 horsepower in the Civic Si), and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 315 horsepower (Civic Type R) that is turbocharged. The engines are mated to a six-speed manual transmission (for Sport/Sport Touring hatchbacks, Civic Si, and Civic Type R) or a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

The Civic is not very enthusiastically propelled around by its basic engine. When driven aggressively, it produces a lot of high-rpm sound, and it takes 9.5 sluggish seconds to accelerate from zero to sixty miles per hour. It's sufficient for navigating at highway speeds and driving around town. The 1.5-liter turbocharged engine has a lot more low-end punch, passing power, and acceleration that is faster and more lively. Sprints from zero to sixty take seven or eight seconds. If you can afford the extra $3,000, it's well worth the investment. One of the best in its class is Honda's CVT, which is quick and silky. Additionally fantastic is the manual transmission. The clutch is gentle, and it feels precise and smooth.

Fuel Economy 10.0/10

Excellent fuel efficiency for the compact vehicle class is achieved by the 2024 Civic. Models with the standard engine and automatic transmission achieve around 36 mpg overall, or 31 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway. Even better are the models with the 1.5-liter engine, which peak at 33/42 mpg on the city and highway. Models with manual transmissions have somewhat worse fuel economy: 26/36 mpg city/highway for 2.0-liter engines and 28/37 for 1.5-liter engines.

Impressive considering its performance, the Civic Si, with its 200-horsepower engine and manual transmission, achieves 27/37 mpg in the city/highway (31 mpg combined).

Safety 9.5/10

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 2024 Civic a five-star overall safety rating, and the Honda gets mostly Good ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The Civic comes with lots of standard safety features, including forward automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist and a rear-seat alert.

How Much Is a 2024 Honda Civic

The standard 2024 Honda Civic LX car has an engine producing 158 horsepower and is equipped with active safety technologies like as lane-departure warning. It is listed at $23,950. Keyless entry and sharper trim features like a chrome exhaust tip are added to the $25,550 Sport level. The Touring ($30,550) equips it with leather upholstery and a 9-inch touch screen, while the EX model ($26,950) boasts a 180-horsepower turbocharged engine and heated front seats, among other goodies. At a somewhat greater cost, hatchback versions in the LX and Sport levels have the same amenities as the sedan. The EX-L ($28,650) and Sport Touring ($31,450) hatchback-only grades are similarly equipped to the EX and Touring sedans. The top model in the range is the $29,100 Civic Si sedan. With a more powerful 200 horsepower engine, a six-speed manual transmission, and other performance enhancements, it is outfitted similarly to the Touring versions.
